A Participação do Instituto de Educação Nossa Senhora Imaculada na Viagem da Escola 8 de Maio

The Instituto de Eudcacao Nossa Senhora Imaculada participation at the Escola 8 de Maio tour

The Instituto de Educação Nossa Senhora Imaculada –Tapera’s students exchanged information with our students related to an old project carried out there regarding the Tapera rivers. Our students got to know that the school was working with the same team and that the final project would be presented in a science fair. Immediately they got interested to know more about it. We established a partnership with them through their leading teacher. The results of their investigation were very useful to us. We hope that the two schools can work together in a future project at RiverWalk. Their findings are:

They surveyed 20 people both in the urban and rural area of the city. The questions were the following: How were the rivers in the past? How are they now? What must be done to clean them up? The answers were: “The rivers used to be clean and had a lot of fish in the past. There used to be plenty of native trees and the amount of water was bigger than today. Nowadays the water is dirty and there are is a lot of garbage and sewer in it, besides the chemical residues from crop fields. And there are few animals and creatures living in the river water. There are many ways to save the river, such as making people aware of the problems and the solutions, planting trees near it, giving fines to the ones who pollute it, and developing campaigns to remove the garbage.

NOTE: It’s important to register that both schools agree in their perception of the problem and think that it is necessary to do something in order to solve the problems.
