Flood season

There is something unusual in this picture. Do you know what it is? Look at the trunks the of the trees. You can't see them, can you? How strange! This picture was taken during the flood season in Amazonia -- generally between March and August. It rains heavily during that period, and the water in Jau rises as much as 5 meters -- that's as high as a 2 story building. In this season, you can travel by boat through the trees. As you travel deep into the jungle, you can hear birds singing and monkeys screeching around you.
