Igarapes

This is a kind of creek called "igarape" in Portugese. Igarapes are usually very long and disappear into the jungle. They are natural irrigation channels for the forest. The cool water is an irresistable invitation for a swim. But they are very important for fish as well. In the breeding season, many species leave the big rivers and go up the igarapes to spawn. If the water becomes polluted, the reproductive cycle could be interrupted. This could lead to a decrease in the number of fish in Amazonia. If this happened, what do you think would happen to the price of fish?
